This fall, expect to see customers lining up in Santa Clara for these boiled New York-style bagels.Winston told the Bay Area News Group in the fall of 2021 about her plans to open more Bay Area bagel shops following the lease of a massive North Berkeley bagel warehouse where production could be increased. “People tell us they drive an hour from Palo Alto and San Jose for bagels, so the Peninsula is definitely a priority,” she said at the time. Trey Lance: 49ers tenure ‘not how I expected it to go’; Garoppolo throws shade at SF Former 49ers No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance on Tuesday made his first public comments as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, donning a hat that featured the team’s classic blue star.Lance described the last several days as a whirlwind after he was traded Friday evening ahead of San Francisco’s final preseason game.He sidestepped questions about his expectations with the new team, insisting that he’s intent on focusing his energy on each day as he learns head coach Mike McCarthy’s offense and assimilates with the Cowboys. He figures to be the third-string quarterback behind Pro Bowler Dak Prescott, who Lance said welcomed him “with open arms” Tuesday and Cooper Rush, who went 4-1 last season with Prescott injured. The third-year quarterback thanked everyone from the 49ers’ coaching staff to the athletic trainers for his time in the Bay Area and smiled at a question about the sour ending with the Niners when they installed Sam Darnold as the No. 2 q...

Oakland man’s murder confession: He told cops he killed Marin woman, then drove with her body in front seat to commit a second homicide, police say OAKLAND — Earlier this month, Oakland police arrested 34-year-old Amadi Monroe after identifying him as a murder suspect who went by the nickname “Bang” and who’d been stalking his victim, Jerald Larnell Clark II, since Monroe’s release from jail a month earlier. But when Monroe sat down in a police interrogation room after his Aug. 11 arrest and waived his Miranda rights, Monroe confessed not just to killing Clark, but also to fatally shooting 30-year-old Brenda Diaz in a Target parking lot hours earlier, authorities said. He then drove Diaz’s Lexus to Oakland to shoot Clark, with her body still in the front seat, according to authorities.Despite the confession, Monroe has thus far only been charged with murder in the killing of Clark. Authorities say the delay in charging him with Diaz’s death has been jurisdictional; investigators are working to confirm his story that he shot Diaz within San Rafael city limits, and whether the Marin or Ala...

Rookies Stroud, Anderson should make Texans better, but Houston still far from contending

Published Mon, 25 Nov 2024 10:12:52 GMT

Rookies Stroud, Anderson should make Texans better, but Houston still far from contending HOUSTON TEXANS 3-13-1EXPECTATIONS: After three seasons as one of the league’s worst teams, things should start looking up for the Texans this year. But with a young team that’s still rebuilding, don’t expect Houston to be anywhere close to contending yet. They’re led by first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans, a former linebacker for the Texans, who has brought some optimism to the downtrodden franchise. A big reason to believe Houston will be improved this season is the addition of quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was the second overall pick in this year’s draft. He replaced Davis Mills after two ineffective seasons. The Texans also beefed up their defense by trading up to nab Will Anderson Jr., a defensive end from Alabama with the third pick in the draft. Anderson has shined in camp and made a highlight-reel play on a strip-sack in the second preseason game. It’s easy to see why FanDuel has him as the favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.NEW FACES: Ryans, Stroud, Anderson, WR Tank...
