Travis County officials investigating jail inmate death TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- Travis County officials are investigating the death of an inmate, according to a press release from the Travis County Sheriff's Office. On Sept. 8, 21-year-old Sappi Tchoualack Jeugoum Franck, of Austin, "was found to be in an altered state of behavior in his housing unit," said the release. It did not go into further detail about what happened, but said he was taken to the hospital, treated and taken off life support and died Sept. 13. He was booked Sept. 2 on two charges -- burglary of a vehicle and resisting arrest, TCSO said.TCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Rangers and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office are all investigating, which is in line with protocol for any death in custody.

Hays CISD player released from hospital after suffering 'medical emergency' during football game HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A Johnson High School varsity football player has been released from the hospital after suffering a medical emergency on the field Friday, according to a social media post from Hays CISD.The post says during the fourth quarter of the game, the student suffered a "medical emergency on the field," and got taken to the hospital. "Thankfully, we are happy to report that the student-athlete has been released from the hospital and is back home," says the post from Hays CISD on Saturday. Family, friends, coaches and teammates offered their support for the student at the hospital as well. "We at Hays CISD would like to thank the Johnson High and Del Valle High Athletic Training/Sports Medicine programs, team doctors and first responders for their immediate action during this incredibly scary moment," says the district post. "We would also like to send our best thoughts to our student-athlete and his family on his continued recovery."

Petaluma shoe store theft suspects found with firearm (BCN) -- A San Rafael man and woman were accused of possessing a concealed weapon when their vehicle was searched in connection with a theft from a shoe store, Petaluma police said Friday. SFFD contains fires in Marina District, Inner Sunset neighborhoods (BCN) -- In the span of two hours, San Francisco firefighters had to contain two fires in the city early Saturday morning. Around 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a one-alarm fire in the Marina District neighborhood. Salesforce CEO: Why can’t SF be ‘clean and safe’ every day? The blaze occurred at a residence at 2250 Bay Street, the San Francisco Fire Department said on social media. The fire was contained within 25 minutes, according to firefighters, who added that no one suffered injuries or was displaced due to the blaze. Shortly before 3 a.m., firefighters were also alerted to a multi-residential structure fire at 332 Irving Street in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. An occupant was rescued and had to be sent to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention, firefighters said. The fire was contained at 3:15 a.m., according to the fire department.
