District asks voters to approve salary raise for Round Rock ISD staff in November election

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) -- A salary increase for Round Rock Independent School District employees will be up to voters to approve at the polls in November after the district's Board of Trustees voted to call for a Voter- Approval Tax Rate Election, or VATRE, earlier this week. On Monday the board called for the VATRE for the Nov. 7 election to provide staff members with salary increases. The board also approved a tax rate of $0.9190 for the 2023-2024 school year. The calling for the election follows months of exploration by the Board of Trustees and the approval of the 2023-2024 budget, which included considerations for a VATRE. Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison, clocked at 140 mph in his sports car on Interstate 94 in St. Paul, has agreed to plead guilty to speeding. A charge of reckless driving will be dismissed, according to a court document filed Wednesday.Addison was originally cited for two misdemeanors. As part of a sentencing agreement, the speeding charge will be amended to a petty misdemeanor.A Minnesota State Patrol trooper pulled Addison over in a 2021 Lamborghini Urus on July 20 about 3:15 a.m. on eastbound on I-94 near Dale Street. The speed limit there is 55 mph.“Driver stated his dog was having an emergency at his residence, and that was the reason for his speed,” the citation stated. ST. LOUIS - Thousands are expected to gather at Forest Park this weekend to enjoy barbecue, bourbon, and live music through the Evolution Festival. The Evolution Festival is a two-day event and one of the first large-scale outdoor music celebrations at Forest Park since LouFest folded in 2018. Dozens musicians and bands are scheduled to perform on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27. The suspected gunman who killed three people and wounded six others at a popular Orange County biker bar was identified Thursday morning as John Snowling, a retired police officer from the City of Ventura. Snowling was killed in a shootout with law enforcement.The gunfire erupted around 7:05 p.m. at Cook's Corner, located at 19152 Santiago Canyon Road in Trabuco Canyon.Multiple people called 911 to report shots fired, and deputies from the Sheriff's Department responded to the scene within minutes, according to Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock.When deputies arrived, emergency dispatchers reported the sounds of gunshots could be heard on their radios.Former Ventura police Sgt.
